The FREE Island Explorer Shuttle Bus System
features six bus routes linking hotels, Inns, and campgrounds with destinations
in Acadia National Park and neighboring village centers. Clean propane-powered
vehicles offer Mount Desert Island visitors and residents free transportation
to hiking trails, carriage roads, island beaches, and in town shops and
restaurants. Each bus is capable of holding bicycles on a space available
basis on outside racks.

Do Not Drive Into Town To Board The Bus
This
service was designed so that you can leave your car at your motel, Inn,
or campground. This is much more convenient than driving around finding
a parking space which can be very difficult in peak season.
Tips
for using This Schedule:
1. For rides that involve more than one route transfer between buses on
the Bar Harbor Village Green.
2. Find the letters on the map near your starting and ending points.
3. Reading from left to right, find the same two letters over the times
shown.
4. Departure times are listed below the first letter; arrival times appear
below the second letter.
The following
schedule is to and from Southwest Harbor and Tremont from Bar Harbor only.
